Community development officer at Centre for community mobilization and empowerment

Executive Director, Center for Community Mobilization and Empowerment (CECOME)
She participated in the customization and validation of the gender mainstreaming policy for Kisii County. The policy is aimed at addressing the gender gaps in the ministry of health. The most rewarding part of my job is the satisfaction gotten after a client accesses the social and legal support in full and when the community shows concern on the various forms of violations and sits down to discuss how to get solutions. The other rewarding part is that through my initiative, there exists an organization in place with the capacity required to spearhead campaigns against these violations.

“Kisii county government, department of health services is committed to ensuring that gender mainstreaming is enhanced in its operations at the planning and decision-making processes.” Reads part of the policy.

A local based NGO working to promote women’s and girl’s rights through eradication of #GBV and #FGM #ENDGBV #SRHR in Kisii and larger Western Kenya region.

Through CECOME, she empowers vulnerable members of the community to take charge of their lives and improve their living conditions. We believe that knowledge is the way to success. By creating awareness we are able to transform the lives of vulnerable groups through community organization, capacity planning, and socio-economic empowerment for community safety and family stability. CECOME continues to offer a space for women and girls affected by FGM to engage directly with Kenya decision-makers. Our experiences and the expertise of defining and guide the Organization’s calls for political action to end FGM.
